EXCELLENT Based on 68 reviews John J2025-01-20Verified The Best of Egypt In November 2024 my husband and I were fortunate to take what has always been a dream vacation of ours to Egypt. Thanks to a friend, we were encouraged to travel with Ahmed Motawie’s Egyptian based company, Egypt Guided Tours. The 2 week trip itinerary was aptly called ‘The Best of Egypt’ and lived up to it’s name in every way. From pyramids and tombs to temples and museums traveling with Ahmed, we never felt rushed or overwhelmed with information touring the sights. As an experienced guide and Egyptologist, Ahmed gave us an exceptional insight into Egyptian history and culture and was always eager to answer our many questions. The Nile River cruise and time at a resort in Hurghada on the Red Sea even allowed us time to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of Egypt, a perfect balance to exploring the many historic wonders. There were so many wonderful experiences, from wandering the streets of old Cairo to buggy rides, boat trips and of course the highlight camel ride across the desert at Giza. Every aspect of our trip was taken care of, from our arrival at the airport to our departure for home, including all transportation, flights, accommodation and entry fees. Ahmed was truly there for us in every way, sharing his knowledge and his country in a way that made for a very unique and special vacation. Our friend promised us this would be a vacation of a lifetime; Ahmed and Egypt Guided Tours delivered on that promise. Thanks Ahmed. This is one vacation we will always treasure. michael2025-01-12Verified A journey through ancient Egypt Our 10-day tour to Egypt was an unforgettable experience. We spent 4 days in Cairo, where we visited the iconic pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Egyptian Museum amongst other amazing places, all of which were awe-inspiring. The places we were taken to purchase perfume, spices and carpets were all very professionally run and Ahmed had a great rapport with the businesses. The 3-night Nile cruise was a highlight, allowing us to explore the temples of Luxor, Karnak, and Edfu, with the added luxury of cruising through picturesque landscapes. A boat excursion to the Nubian village allowed us a quick swim in the Nile and a lesson at the charming Nubian school. The hot air balloon ride was a highlight of the trip for us. Floating over the Valley of the Kings at sunrise with another 30+ balloons around us was an incredible sight. The few nights we spent in Hurghada were a nice, relaxing end to the trip, with plenty of time for snorkeling and enjoying the Red Sea.Ahmed was incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with rich historical insights that enhanced our experience. Overall, the trip was well-organized, comfortable, and absolutely worth the money spent. We got to see the major sights, learn a lot, and experience the best of what Egypt has to offer. We will not forget Ahmed’s passion and commitment to helping us understand the glory of ancient Egypt. Highly recommended! kris m2023-11-14Verified Ahmed is absolutely outstanding!!! Ahmed and his tour group is the only group I’d ever use when I return back to Egypt. I can assure you there was complete safety in Egypt despite the Palestinian Isreal issues going on while we were traveling. Egypt and touring there is safe! Ahmed is an incredible and exceptional tour guide. He arranged everything with pristine precision. Again I can assure you there was complete safety in Egypt despite the Palestinian Isreal issues going on. Egypt and touring there is completely safe! Ahmed is an incredibly exceptional tour guide and arranged everything with, pristine precision. The van was super comfortable and always picked us up in the most convenient locations. I learned so much from Ahmed and Ali during our 12 day stay in Egypt. Egypt is an incredible country with the richest history pertaining to the start of civilization. It is important when one goes to Egypt to have Egyptians as your tour guides- Ahmed and Ali are both Egyptian, and know the true history of Egypt, (which is not always understood by other tour guides from other countries).I give Ahmed and his tour business, the highest recommendation possible. He is honest, committed, organized and thorough in every aspect of from the beginning of planning a trip to the information provided during it, Even assisting with things like getting through the airport and getting our visas—- book with Ahmed and you will not be disappointed!! Valerie D2023-01-24Verified Saw the best of Egypt! This is now the second time I have toured Egypt with Egypt Guided Tours and they are fabulous. From airport pick-up to drop off at the end of the tour, they attended to all our needs, safety and viewing experiences! Great commentary on the history and sites. We saw everything at a leisurely pace and the price was really good. Highly recommend this very responsible tour company!! Naz S2022-01-03Verified Awesome experience! Great experience in Egypt. He made sure all of our requests were handled before we got to Egypt . He also made sure we had someone with us at the airports and local places to guide us through everything. Beautiful country and so much to see . I highly recommend booking through this Comapny. Kerry M2021-07-28Verified Two week Egypt tour with EGT - Amazing!! Just returned from a two week tour with EGT and it was incredible!! Ahmed and his team were excellent, both in the planning phase leading up to the trip, our arrival and transfers from Cairo to Hurghada to Luxor and back to Cairo, and of course the day to day interactions with the guides! We traveled as a family with our 14 and 12 year old kids and the program Ahmed designed was great for them and our guides (Mohammed and Hassan) were exceptionally good at engaging the kids and keeping them focused on all the incredible sights. The other part we really enjoyed was getting immersed in the local culture....the guides took us to local restaurants and walked us through local areas where we had the chance to engage with people and not just sit on a bus or a boat. Two things we got a lot of questions about: heat and safety. We knew it would be hot visiting Egypt in July but our guides did their best to work around it as best as they could. We typically started early (by 7am) and would spend 2-3 hours before breaking for lunch and either using the heat of the day to transfer to a new location or heading back to the hotel until our evening activities. This really helped manage the heat and they always had bottled water available for us and great A/C in the van also helped. Second, our friends and family had concerns about how safe it would be for us but I can tell you that we never felt at risk or in danger a single time during our trip. On the contrary, this is our third trip to Africa and we felt safer in Egypt then we did anywhere else. In Cairo we typically had a "tourist police" office riding along with us and our movements were always managed with their oversight. This was a bit tedious at times as we waited on the police escorts, but I understand why they do it and it was just a chance to relax and be patient. Our guide Hassan (from Luxor to Aswan) was amazing! His mastery of hieroglyphics was incredible and he spent lots of time teaching my son to read them and sharing his passion on all Egyptian history. Highlights of trip for us (apart from the obvious historical sights): Hurghada and the Kempinski hotel - absolutely amazing and a wonderful break after the heat and hectic nature of Cairo. The water for snorkeling/diving is amazing!! The Nile cruise and Aswan was a great surprise as well. We really enjoyed our time on the cruise watching the sights go by and being able to get off/on at various places to explore the sights. I highly recommend adding a side trip to see Dendara, which is an amazing temple just north of Luxor. Lastly, I cannot say enough about the hospitality and support that Ahmed and his team provided us. At one point our family all had a stomach bug and they worked with us to adjust our schedule without making us feel any pressure. They also helped us secure the right pharmacy medicine and were available 24x7 for our questions. My wife also had a medical scare in Luxor and our guide and driver helped us get to a medical clinic for treatment. He kept the kids entertained for a few hours while we met with the doctor, and I will forever be grateful for their support during these times! In summary, I would recommend EGT to anyone who wants a customized tour with exceptional local guides. We hope to come back for another trip some day and I feel like Ahmed and our guides are now part of our extended travel family! Chris A2020-03-15Verified First Class Private Tour Company My wife and I just returned after a private tour of Egypt with EGT. We have been on many group tours but like to book private tours with local tour companies in countries where the prices are reasonable. Egypt is one of those countries. We could book a private tour with EGT at approximately the same per day cost as the group tour company we normally use but with a private tour you have so much more flexibility. The whole tour went like clockwork. All the guides and drivers were very good. They even had an agent that meets you at the airport and walks you through the visa and immigration process. We would also recommend including Hurghada on the Red Sea in your itinerary. EGT put us in a fabulous resort there. It was a good break between the historic sights of Cairo and Luxor. The Nile cruise boat they chose was also very nice. EGT is highly recommended by us. Rahim M2019-10-24Verified Highly Highly recommend this company! While researching what to do in Cairo we came across the company Egypt Guided Tours. We only had 2 days in Cairo so we really wanted to maximize our time and contacted them for advice. We got onto Ahmed who was really great. He gave us good advice and what to do to best maximize our time. So from the start, the service was great over email and WhatsApp. Therefore, we decided to book all our trip logistics through them. We booked with them for pick up at the airport, return and daily guided tours. So let me start by giving appreciation to Mr. Osama who is their representative that met us upon arrival. He met us inside the terminal (meaning, as you come off the plane and not after you collect luggage) and helped us get our tourist visa with ease. Being from a small island and a relatively unknown passport, Osama was able to answer any questions the immigration had and we were on our way. Then Ahmed gave us a very good English speaking tour guide Mr. Yasser who is actually certified in Egyptology. We had 2 days of great educational tours and we went to all the different markets, souks and places of history. Without a doubt we would recommend Egypt Guided Tours for all your trip logistics. Ray Wong2019-10-13Verified Egypt in Style We didn’t want to join a large group tour of Egypt and were very fortunate to find Ahmed Khattab’s company Egypt Guided Tours on Tripadvisor. After reading the many positive reviews and doing a FaceTime with Ahmed I decided to go with his company. Ahmed did all the planning and communications was very easy using email. We signed up for the Egypt in Style escorted tour with some added visits as I describe below. Day 1: On arrival at Cairo airport we were met by Ahmed’s representative Osama before the customs area and he facilitated us through passport control and customs. After leaving the airport we met our driver also named Ahmed who drove us to the Le Meridien in Giza and checked us in. Right away we were blown away the views of pyramids from the hotel. Ahmed Khattab met us at the hotel and we went through what to expect while we were in Egypt. An excellent way to begin the visit was the Sound and Light show at the pyramids in the evening. Day 2: We met our Cairo tour guide Hesham Gabry and driver Ahmed after breakfast for a tour of the Giza Plateau and pyramids. After visiting Khufu’s pyramid we went for a camel ride by the panoramic point and then to the Solar Boat Museum and view of the Great Sphinx. We dropped by an interesting Papyrus shop were they demonstrated how the ancient Egyptians made papyrus scrolls and of course this was a shopping opportunity. Hesham gave us a choice of 3 lunch places and we opted for the local food and had delicious falafel and chicken shawarma. After lunch it was off to Saqqara to see the Stepped Pyramid and the Imhotep Museum. We finished the day with a Nile River Cruise and Dinner Show featuring belly dancing and a whirling Sufi dancer. Day 3: We met our guide Hesham and our new driver Sameer for a day tour of Alexandria visiting the catacombs at Kom al-Shoqafa, the amphitheater discovered by a donkey at Kom el-Dekka and Qaitbay Citadel with it’s view of the harbor. Lunch was at the Fish Market overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Hesham arranged a meal which included seafood soup, grilled fish, shrimp and calamari. Our final stop before returning to Cairo was the new library of Alexandria on the site of the original one. Day 4: Hesham and Sameer took us for a walking tour of Old Cairo first visiting the Coptic Hanging Church and then Ben Ezra Synagogue the oldest one in Egypt and finally to the Cavern Church where the Coptic Christians believe that Mary and Jesus stayed while fleeing King Herod. After walking through the Khan el-Khalili old market we stopped for coffee sitting across the famous al-Hussein Mosque. Day 4 was a shorter day because we needed to wake early the following day. Day 5: We were picked up by Ahmed for an early morning flight to Luxor. At Luxor airport we met our driver in Luxor also named Ahmed and our tour guide Mohammed. We arrived at Karnak Temple for an early morning tour. At 10am it was already hot and we decided to check in to our Nile cruise ship the MS Blue Shadow and postpone our visit to Luxor Temple for the evening. I highly recommend visiting Luxor in the evening when it is all lit up. Day 6: After visiting the east bank of Luxor the previous day Mohammed and Ahmed took us over to the west bank. First was a stop at the Colossi of Menon and then to the Valley of Kings where we entered 3 tombs. After a shopping visit at an Alabaster shop we headed for Al-Deir Al-Bahari or better known as Hatchepsut’s Temple. The cruise left Luxor after lunch as it headed up the Nile for Edfu. Day 7: Accompanied by Mohammed we took an early morning horse carriage ride to Edfu Temple. The cruise ship left for Kom Ombo Temple where we were able to walk to the temple and Crocodile Museum. Sailing to Aswan we went through the Esna Locks and then were greeted by the brightly lit Aswan Mosque. Day 8: It was an early morning start for our 3 hour drive to Abu Simbel. Accompanying our tour guide Mohammed was our new driver Hassan who did a wonderful job of getting through the various checkpoints ahead of everyone else. We visited the temples of Ramses II and his wife Nefetari which must be considered one of the highlights of trip. In evening we went to the Sound and Light show at the Philae Temple located on an island in the Nile. Day 9: We had a new driver Yousef on our final day in Aswan who picked us up with Mohammed to visit the Unfinished Obelisk and then to the Aswan High Dam built in the 1960’s with Russian assistance. We then took a motorboat to visit a Nubian Village located on an island in the Nile. Lunch was freshly caught Nile fish at a restaurant recommended by the motorboat captain. Hassan took us to the airport for our flight back to Cairo. At Cairo airport we were once again met by Osama who then passed us to our driver Ahmed. Day 10: Back in Cairo for our final day we were picked up by Hesham and Sameer for a tour of the Cairo Museum where we visited the Mummy Room and the King Tut treasures. Lunch was at Andrea’s which is famous for it’s Greek style roasted chicken. Our final visit in Egypt was to the Citadel and the Alabaster Mosque. Day 11: Ahmed picked us up for our airport transfer. Final Thoughts: I am so glad we went with Ahmed Khattab’s Egypt Guided Tours. We were taken care of from the moment we landed in Cairo to the moment we were dropped off at the airport. We were not only treated as valued customers but also as friends by our tour guides and drivers. Hesham in Cairo is a seasoned tour guide with wonderful stories. Our driver Ahmed in Cairo was very friendly and treated us like family. Sameer in Cairo was so courteous calling us king and queen. Mohammed our tour guide in Luxor is extremely knowledgeable and a former government Egyptologist. He was very flexible and accommodating of our needs. We had three wonderful drivers in upper Egypt: Ahmed in Luxor, Hassan in Aswan and finally Yousef.
